Behind the lens
I’m Camille, a 30-year old self-taught photographer based in Ghent, Belgium.
After pursuing a more conventional career path as a commercial engineer, I found myself feeling unfulfilled and yearning for something more creative. In 2018, I made the decision to reconnect with my childhood creativity that somewhere got lost along the way. I began taking courses and attending workshops to develop my skills, and eventually started working part-time as a graphic designer and (food) photographer. Over the course of five years, what started as a side job evolved into a full-time passion.
The absence of an academic education has allowed me to approach photography in a natural and intuitive way, developing my skills through experimentation and practice. By embracing the existing light conditions and working with the natural elements in my environment, I've been able to cultivate a style that is both organic and authentic. Rather than trying to manipulate my surroundings, I've learned to adapt and find creative solutions that enhance the beauty of the moment.
I have a strong personal commitment for preserving our beautiful world, therefore, I am particularly interested in working for sustainable brands and organisations/NGO’s that strive to make a positive impact.
